Rain already and forecasted for this weekend forces Talladega Short Track officials to postpone until October this Thur/Fri/Sat 10,000 to win Crate Late Model event... rain over the south may force other tracks to reschedule as well...

 

 

$2,000 Summer Sizzler Win to Coakley...

 

 

Michael Coakley jumped to the top of his UMP Open Wheel Modified Saturday night after taking the Summer Sizzler Series win at Western Kentucky Speedway.

Coakley scored the $2,000 victory, one of his biggest career wins, after early leader Paul Miles had brake problems and turned the lead over to Coakley.

Paul Miles appeared en route to a big payday when entering turn one his brakes failed and he slid in to the outside wall.

Missouri's Steve Maisel #M41 battles Terry Henson in the #71x.

Scotty Oliver #44 inherited the E-Modified feature win after apparent winner Chad Sweeney was dq'd on a MSD box ruling. Jansen Morris #55 started on the pole but wound up fifth at the checkers. (Richard Cunningham Photos)

Wayne Coakley Kentucky Racer of the Year!

 

Summer Sizzler Final to Miles...

 

Paul Miles rebounded from disappointment Saturday night to win the UMP Open Wheel Modified Summer Sizzler final at Windy Hollow Speedway Sunday evening. 

The Owensboro, Kentucky racer picked up $1,500 for the victory.

 

Randle Sweeney finished second in his #182 Sunday.

John Driskell went for a barrell roll in his #81 in to the wall and fence Sunday evening in Cruiser division action at the Windy Hollow track after contact with the #21 of Jeff Maysey.

Driskell actually made repairs after the heat rollover to start the feature event but was hampered by needed repairs.
